Providing job-embedded professional learning opportunities for over 42 years!
Since their establishment by the New York State Legislature in 1984 under New York State Education Law §316, Teacher and Computer Training Centers have played a vital role in supporting educator growth and student achievement across the state. Today, approximately 124 Teacher Centers serve school districts throughout New York, fostering collaboration among public and private school educators, school districts, institutions of higher education, and other key educational partners.
The Syracuse Teacher Center is committed to providing high-quality professional learning opportunities that enhance educator knowledge, strengthen instructional practice, and positively impact student academic and social-emotional success. Through a diverse range of programs, workshops, and collaborative initiatives, we support educators in meeting the evolving needs of their students and school communities.
As we move into the 2026-2027 school year, the Syracuse Teacher Center remains dedicated to engaging educators from the Syracuse City School District, as well as private and parochial schools, in meaningful professional learning experiences. We encourage all staff members to take advantage of the opportunities available through the Center to expand their expertise and advance their professional practice. We also value our longstanding partnerships with colleges and universities, whose faculty and staff contribute their knowledge and experience to enrich our programming and broaden learning opportunities for educators.
The Syracuse Teacher Center is guided by a 19-member Policy Board that reflects the collaborative spirit of our organization. The Board includes a majority of teachers, administrators, and parents, while also ensuring representation from higher education institutions and private and parochial schools. The Syracuse City School District serves as the Local Education Agency (LEA) and a proud sponsor of the Syracuse Teacher Center, reinforcing our shared commitment to educational excellence and continuous professional growth.
